PROMAR - helping dolphins, whales and sea turtles in Spain

In the early 90′s, a group of people began to assist with dolphin, whale and sea turtle strandings that occured in the west of Almeria, Spain. They later extended this support network to the whole province and in 2001, PROMAR Almeria was born.

PROMAR runs through coordination between the technical team and Veterinary Stranding Network and the various agencies with responsibilities related to the sea or of the province.PROMAR’s philosophy is mutual cooperation between all entities and individuals working on behalf of the marine fauna, both domestically and internationally.One of their most publicised cases is the case of Marcos the dolphin. Tonight we welcome back Maria Heidemann, long-time dolphin supprter, who tells us all about Promar and Marcos.
