Help the dogs in Denmark

Roughly 1400 dogs have been killed in Denmark since June 2010 when a new law decided that 13 dog breeds are no longer welcome in Denmark. Activist and journalist Peter Loewisch talked to us about his facebook group aimed at challenging the law, about the numerous events and demonstrations, petitions and so on but also about the obstacles he faces while fighting for Denmark’s dogs.

Note: For reasons out of our control the original track and the voice over sound almost equally as loud for the first three minutes. It will get much better after that, so put on your listening ears and listen to this informative interview.

The Alliance for Hong Kong Animal Police is asking for YOUR help!

In Hong Kong the AFCD (Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department) is primarily responsible for animal welfare. They are working in conjunction with the police force and the SPCA. Unfortunately the latter seems to think that clear-cut abuse cases are "accidents" and not worthy to be reported to the police who is the only organisation with the power to proscute. How bad the situation really is becomes clear while listening to vet Mark Mak, who is a member of the Alliance For Hong Kong Animal Police, a group that includes 14 animal NGO's numerous political parties and individuals. The situation is desperate and Mark is asking all of you to listen and act on behalf on the many animals in Hong Kong whose cries seem to go largely unnoticed.

No need to bean you up, you're already home" - the truth of the matter is that you don't have to be vegan to like the page as it is very entertaining but also educational. Is FACEBOOK targeting animal rights activists?

Some say it is the new spam filter that is causing all the trouble but Kasha Viets-Woods doesn’t believe it. And she is not alone in thinking there may be more to it than just a filter who thinks crossposting pictures is spamming. Sybelle Foxcroft even had some of her private messages invaded and deleted by Facebook!

WILD TIME talked to Sybelle and Kasha to see what is going on and to explore how it affects the animals whose pictures cannot be posted and shared any longer.

Least listened to interview:
Climate Change revisited                                                                                                                                                                        * - comments only include left comments on either the upload page or wildtime online blog page
Obviously, a show updated in January has had more time to get listened to than, say, a show uploaded in November. Nontheless, statistics allow us to see trends that tell us what sort of topics are interesting to people and what sort of issues need more highlighting or are genuinely more difficult to convey.   Something we have noticed for instance is that environmental topics are less appreciated by our online audience than animal related topics. Within the animal related topics it becomes clear that interviews about scorpions or snakes are less listened to than interviews that involve dolphins for instance.
Another factor is obviously how active the online community is with regards to sharing content. In short, this may not be a 100% accurate projection but nontheless a vital one.
