Update on Morgan the Orca

In February of 2011 Wild Time spoke to scientist Lara Pozzato from the Free Morgan Foundation (www.freemorgan.org) about Morgan, an orca who was meant to be re-released into the wild after being cared for when he was found in distress in Dutch waters. Recently a court ruled that Morgan has to spend his life in captivity, performing for humans - we asked Lara if there is any hope for Morgan left.

This interview will also be aired on www.tcrfm.co.uk on December 19th on Wild Time - see www.wildtimeontcrfm.blogspot.com

Sad news

Asociata pet hope wrote on their facebook wall:

UPDATE
For 2 days Bruno has been urinating blood. This morning's test gave up that he had a large tumor on his bladder. Inoperable. We contacted a lot of vets they all said the same thing.
We had to put him to sleep... otherwise he would have died in 2-3 days in pain because of the loss of blood.

RIP dear Bruno, we loved you all so much! This is so unfair!!!

The interview re Bruno that we did earlier this month can be accessed via the post below.

... is in the pre-production stages.

PRICE PER DOZEN follows two passionate conservation biologists seeking to expose the roots of this illegal trade….what they embark on reveals a lot more than they could have ever imagined…they have dug where no one else has before…and found an industry supporting the illegal harvest of sea turtle populations all over the world; Including a recently established market in their own backyard....Australia.

Salt Water Tears - in conversation with activist and author Len Varley

Len Varley's new book about the drive hunts in Taiji goes beyond describing the killings of the beautiful dolphins in Japan's coastal town of Taiji. The book (and this conversation) also offers a fascinating insight into the historical background of whaling in Japan and offers a glimpse into the mind of Japan's citizens. Informative, honest and respectful - this is a long and fascinating conversation about the rather old issue of whaling.

Raffle is over

The two cinema tickets we got from Odeon to raffle off to promote the move of Wild Time to its second home Rhubarb Radio can no longer be won.

Update

Rhubarb Radio just withdrew their offer to air Wild Time via Rhubarb Radio.

Apparently some of their sponsors felt that topics like "Bestiality" (animal abuse - sex with animals) are too daring to be explored on air.

We're very sorry that Rhubarb Radio (after agreeing to having Wild Time on their station and after meeting to discuss what the show is about)feels that way and ulitimately rejects Wild Time.

Wild Time goes out as usual via TCR FM and online.

Our apologies for making such a fuzz about moving to a second home but the decision is obviously out of our hands.

A listener's comment

We understand that you guys do not necessarily check out all comments we're getting and apparently we should do this more often ourselves because we've just come across a comment about our Crow & Magpie cull interview.

Sheila wrote: This Magpie/Crow cull is just another part of the Tory ""Big Society".First get rid of the forests into private ownership. Then give Goverment Grants for the shooting hunting brigade to KILL OFF OUR WILDLIFE....Birds Badgers, Foxes all in the name of "CONSERVATION"

IT WOULD BE FUNNY IF IT WASN'T SO DREADFUL
