Removing Marine Trash from Key Largo Coral Reefs - in conversation with Brian Barnes

Environmental activist and Divemaster Brian Barnes is part of a group of professional divers who need YOUR help as they are planning to remove piles of trash from the one pristine ocean floor at the famous Key Largo Coral Reefs. Brian tells us all about the state of the corals and their plan to help the ocean and all the creatures therein.

The Beggar Cats of Niigata / Japan

For all intents and purposes stray cats are hardly big news UNLESS they can be found in a quiet city in Japan near a convenient store. Steven “Grin” Harsha, who talked to us on Wild Time once before, recently uploaded a clip called “The Beggar Cats of Niigata” on his very popular youtube channel.

WILD TIME’s Thomas Janak had the pleasure of talking to Steven about the cats, pets in Japan in general, living abroad and much more besides.

"Blackfish", the Tilikum documentary - in conversation with director Gabriela Cowperthwaite

“Blackfish” tells the story of Tilikum, the infamous killerwhale, responsible for the death of three people But, unlike many other newsstories, this documentary shows what life in captivity means, talks about the death of trainer Dawn Brancheau and it includes interviews with many former ‘Sea World’ trainers, who are now saying that animals shouldn’t be in captivity.

Helping cetacians through music and spiritual healing - in conversation with Len Varley

Len Varley, author of ‘Salt Water Tears’ and ‘Deeper Water’ (eye witness accounts of his time in Taiji/Japan), introduces the music project “Freedom Blue” as an awareness raising tool for the plight of cetacians in captivity. Shelter animals in Poitiers/France need your help!

WILD TIME’s Thomas Janak had the pleasure of talking to two awesome ladies, namely Caroline Langlois and Anne Dubios – Froge from the Shelter SPA (Secours et Protection des Animaux) in Poitiers/France.

The SPA is a community-supported nonprofit association dedicated to saving, protecting and caring for cats, dogs and other animals.


Being a no-kill shelter, the SPA often times cares for up to 1000 animals annually and they receive very little funding and work almost entirely through donations.Caroline and Anne explained what their main worries and problems are.
