Living plant based means restoring God's original intent

LISTEN HERE

Frank L. Hoffman from "the Mary T and Frank L Hoffman Foundation" says: "We are a Biblically based organization, and believe that our call to mission is to restore God's original creation intent of a plant based diet (Genesis 1:29-30).We believe that a vital part of God's plan is to have His people be stewards of His earthly creation, and perhaps beyond, and to "rule" over it in such a way as to protect it from harm. Additionally, we are to "subdue", through peaceful means, all evil that seeks to cause harm to any portion of creation (Genesis 1:26-28).We believe we have been called as sons and daughters (children) of God to counteract the cruelty and damage that has been and continues to be inflicted upon the earth and all its inhabitants, for the whole of creation has been waiting and groaning for such individuals even until this very day (Romans 8:18-25)" - reason enough for WILD TIME to talk to him.

The horrors of the meat and dairy industry and how calf nr. 269 started a movement

Animal rights activists in Israel have formed a movement called "269life" to campaign for an end to the horrors of the meat- and dairy industry. They emotionally connected to calf Nr. 269, which is one of many, and even went as far as having the name 269 branded onto their bodies publicly in Tel Aviv/Israel.

This interview with activist Sasha Bojor covers not only activism, why branding seems the ultimate form of compassion but also deals with cultural sensitivites and differences and why veganism is the only way forward and more.

Free Morgan the Orca - in conversation with Jean-Michel Cousteau and Dr. Ingrid Visser

In June 2010 a lone female orca calf was captured from the Wadden Sea, off the northwest coast of the Netherlands, under a rehabilitation and release permit. She was emaciated and dehydrated. The Dolfinarium Harderwijk took this orca, whom they named Morgan, to their facilities in order to administer medical health care. They weren’t allowed to display her to the public and she was to be prepared for reintroduction back into her natural habitat. Unfortunately, this isn’t what happened.

Morgan currently languishes in Loro Parque, a privately owned entertainment park in the Canary Islands. She is used in shows and is abused by the other orca at the park. Yet, there is strong evidence that illustrates that Morgan is a suitable candidate for release back into the wild.

The next hearing about her ongoing courtcase is scheduled for tomorrow, November 1st.

Fighting bear bile farming until all cruelty ends – in conversation with Animals Asia founder Jill Robinson

On their website it says: ‘Founded by Jill Robinson in 1998, Animals Asia Foundation is devoted to the welfare of wild and urban animals in Asia. We also work towards the conservation of endangered species

At present, we have around 250 rescued bears at our sanctuaries in China and Vietnam and over the years, we’ve rescued a total of 350 bears. In China, we’re working with conservation leaders in Beijing as well as forestry leaders in individual provinces to close down farms and make whole provinces bear-farm free. So far, we’ve closed down 43 Chinese farms and seen 20 of mainland China’s 31 provinces become proudly bear farm-free. We also work to reduce the demand for bile in Asia by promoting affordable, effective and cruelty-free alternatives’

Animal Asia founder and CEO Jill Robinson talked to Wild Time’s Thomas Janak about the bile farming as well as about a current crisis as their samctuary in Vietnam is threatened by an eviction notice.

This is an informative and important conversation that also includes ways of helping Animals Asia and supporting them in their struggles.

What's in your drink??

As stated on www.barnivore.com : "It might seem weird at first, but your favourite drink might have more than just alcohol in it.

Brewmasters, winemakers, and distillers may include animal ingredients in their products directly, or they might use them in the processing and filtration. When making the product, dairy, honey, and other things (including, in one case, a whole chicken dropped in the tank) are ingredients in the final recipe." -

WILD TIME RADIO DONATION APPEAL

Lately "Mixcloud", where many of our interviews can be found, seems to have severe problems. Often times we can't upload footage and just today we couldn't even send them an email to let them know.

Since May 2012 we were therefore uploading some shows on pod-o-matic, where we are now running out of free space.

We have now decided to get a PRO ACCOUNT on pod-o-matic.

Since we are not funded by anyone and since we are spending a lot of time and money on our programs, we are appealing to our dear listeners and supporters to donate to us (see paypal button the upper right hand side on this blog) so that we can purchase a subsricption.

Thank you!!

Focussing on Asia

Over the years WILD TIME has spoken to many organisations and individuals in or about Asia and our footage truly reflects the courage and compassion of the people who work for the rights and welfare of animals in their respective countries.

Still, there often are many racist remarks about specific countries or "the Asian" as such on social netweork sites or under links and pctures.

WILD TIME never makes excuses for highlighting cruelty wherever it may happens BUT it is very important and only fair to highlight not only what is actually happening in Asia but also to show people and indeed interview the people that fight for animals in Asia.

For the purpose of making browsing easier whe have listed our Asia - related interviews on a specific page.

Saving Salamanders from extinction - in conversation with Matt Ellerbeck

LISTEN HERE : Salamanders are in a terrible crisis. Copious numbers of salamander species are disappearing from the wild at a daunting rate. Unfortunately, due to their secretive and cryptic nature, salamanders are not commonly seen by people. This means the decline in salamanders largely goes unnoticed - even as species dwindle and become extirpated (locally extinct and exterminated). Salamanders are further at risk due to the fact that few conservation groups are solely devoted to their recovery, and the general public is largely indifferent to saving ''slimy amphibians.''

Aside from the conservation concerns that afflict salamanders, these amphibians are also subjected to many forms of cruelty and exploitation. Yet virtually no attention is given to salamanders from animal welfare advocates.
